Introduction to Riding

Always wanted to try riding but not sure you want to commit? Have the kids been begging for riding lessons but you’re not sure they’ll stick with it? We also offer a hour intro program so you can try riding and see if you like it. Our intro program includes an hour lesson and an introduction to handling, grooming and tacking. It’s a great way to try out horseback riding without committing to lessons, but we know you’ll be back for more!

Camps

At Heartland we offer a variety of Horseback Riding Camps for kids of all ages. Our Camp Programs provide plenty of horsemanship classes, riding and fun crafts and games around the farm. Horseback Riding provides multiple benefits for children.  It’s a great way to get them away from screen time and be more physically active. Riding provides excellent isometric exercise using the core and inner thigh muscles to maintain balance and posture. Children also benefit by increasing their confidence while they work with horses and learn to establish a connection with their horse and to achieve new goals, teaching them they can set their minds to accomplishing a goal and achieve it. This quote from Ann Swinker, Ph.D. at Penn State University’s Animal Science Department sums it up… “Handling, riding, and caring for a horse or pony can develop a host of positive traits in a child, including responsibility, accountability, patience, level-headedness, empathy, kindness, and self-discipline.”  Enroll your child in a Heartland Riding Camp today and give them skills and memories to last a lifetime
